    Attn: MRI Dept. Managers

    ND Licensing Awareness Campaign

In 2015, the ND Legislature passed SB 2236.  This legislation established the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT). The mission of the NDMIRT is to license and regulate personnel performing Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy to protect the health and safety of the citizens of North Dakota. This includes the establishment, review, and upholding standards to protect the public and to guide the profession. Additionally, properly licensed individuals are able to receive, relay and document verbal, written and electronic orders for medical imaging examinations in a patient’s medical record.

It is not the intent of the NDMIRT to prevent imaging professionals from continuing to provide care, but to ensure all medical imaging professionals are meeting the proper standards and criteria. Due to 2017 Legislation, NDCC 43-62-14, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) registry is mandatory, http://www.legis.nd.gov/cencode/t43c62.pdf?20151008105050.  Those imaging professionals performing MRI must be licensed in ND and registered as such, and if still training they must obtain a Conditional MRI License. Licensees MUST hold at least one current Primary Modality ND License with a national registry to qualify to apply for a ND MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Conditional License.

NO action is needed, if your employees performing MRI currently have an MRI registry and are actively practicing; it should be displayed on their North Dakota license. To verify a ND license, go to the Board’s website above, and then Verification: Search under the Public tab.

If not already in compliance, licensees wishing to or who are currently working toward their MRI Registry must complete this form, https://www.ndmirtboard.com/lic/app/cond/mri/login.asp. There is no fee/charge for this application. A conditional license is valid for two years and maybe renewed once or upon Board approval.

Progress reports must be submitted after one (1) year to show you are actively working towards the national registry requirements.

Upon passing your MRI national registry exam, simply upload proof of the MRI credential earned from from ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) by logging into your Dashboard Account, https://www.ndmirtboard.com/lic/account/login.asp?reload=1. Upon review, the Board office will notify you of approval and you will be able to print a new license certificate, https://www.ndmirtboard.com/lic/print/instruct.asp.

Questions, please contact the Board office, info@ndmirtboard.com.

    Kind regards,
    Shirley Porter, BS RT(R)(M)(ARRT)

  • 4/8/2021 New Licensee Account Features!

    4/8/2021
New Licensee Account Features! The Board is excited to announce new features on the Board's website! Licensees can view and update their contact and employer information and upload their registry card all in one place. Go the Licensee Account page and login with your last name, last four digits of your SSN, and your ND license number. Your license number is NOT the same as your national registry number. Once on the dashboard, you can edit your information by clicking the "Edit" link in each section. This will take you to another page where you can view all the contact information the Board has recorded for you. By clicking "Edit" at the bottom of the page, you can make any changes to your contact information. If you hold a grandfathered, LXMO, BD, RCIS, or RCES license, you will also be able to see how many continuing education hours you need for renewal.  Any changes you make do not automatically update! Please keep in mind that the Board office must review and accept changes before you can see that they have been updated. This is done on at least a weekly basis. Modality Changes: If applicable to your license modality, the dashboard will also show you what CE-compliant modalities the Board has recorded for you. You may add or change your modality, such as CT or mammogram, by clicking the edit link under Modality in the dashboard. The form will require you to upload a letter from your employer explaining the addition or change in your modalities. All those also performing a CE-compliant modality will need to complete 5 hours of continuing education for each modality they are actively practicing. These hours are not in addition to your registry hours. See the Board's website for more information.  CE Upload Form: The Board does have another new feature that will allow you track and upload your CE records. The CE Upload form allows you to track your CE to submit to the Board if necessary or print if needed for an employer, or other purposes. Dashboard Tips: The Board advises that when using the dashboard or any time you are logging into a form on the website, you should be using a desktop or laptop computer. Website features do not always function correctly with all mobile devices. You should also be using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, the two most compatible browsers. The Board’s applications work best in those browsers. If issues or problems occur, please email the Board office and include the type of device and browser you were using. The Board office will do our best to correct any issues. Make sure to add the Board’s email, info@ndmirtboard.com, to your Safe Sender’s List to keep updated on Board notices. REMINDER: Check the website for CE requirements for your modality due by 12/31/2021.
