2026-2027 Renewal Notice for ND Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy Licenses
9/23/20259/23/2025
Your license to practice as a medical imaging professional in ND expires December 31, 2025. Renewal notices were sent by email to all current licensees on September 23, 2025.
To renew, go to the Board’s Renewal Page (https://www.ndmirtboard.com/lic/renew/instruct.asp). First, please read the below information carefully and then login to renew. Failure to read the information may result in an incomplete or late renewal.
This will NOT renew any temporary or conditional licenses you may hold.
Renewing only your national registration (ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, etc.) does not allow you to legally practice in North Dakota. To continue practicing medical imaging and radiation therapy, you must also renew your license in North Dakota.
If you are not renewing your license, please send an email to info@ndmirtboard.com, to avoid receiving future renewal notice emails.
Your ND license will expire December 31, 2025, if not renewed. Renewing only your national registration (ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, etc.) does not allow you to legally practice in North Dakota. To continue practicing medical imaging and radiation therapy, you must also renew your license in North Dakota.
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT USING ONLINE RENEWAL – You must login with the password you created either last renewal or when you applied for a license. If you have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot Password?" link to reset your password. The Board does not have the personal password you previously created.
You will also need to log in with your license number. If you do not know your license number, you may find it by Verifying your license. Enter ONLY your first and/or last name to find your license number. Your ND license number is NOT your national registry (ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, NMTCB, etc.) number. If you are unable to log in, please contact the Board office.
Program Compatibility: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are compatible browsers for the online renewal program. This program may not be compatible with certain browsers on Apple devices including MAC, iPhone and iPad. If you need to use an Apple product, please do not use Safari or Firefox, as they do not support online renewal. It is preferable to use a laptop or desktop computer, not a mobile device, when completing online renewals or printing certificates.
Prior to beginning the online renewal application, please ensure you have the correct information and documents to upload:
*To login to the online renewal, you will need your NDMIRTB license number, and your last name on file with the Board, and the password you had previously created.
*A primary source verification of your current registry(s) directly from the national certifying agency (ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, NMTCB, etc.) website. You are required to always have your current registry information on file with the Board. Again, having a national registry is NOT the same as ND licensure.
ATTENTION! You must have the appropriate current registry verification! You must submit proof of primary source verification from your National Registry Website. A copy of a registry wallet card or wall registry certificate is NOT a primary source of verification showing current status, actions and/or sanctions. Primary source verification should be within 30 days. For examples of proper Primary Source Verifications, please view samples.
*Modalities: If you are adding/changing/removing a CE compliant modality, you will need to have a letter from your supervisor/manager explaining the change of practice to upload during the online renewal process.
*Background Questions: If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions in the Personal Background History, an explanation and any relevant documentation as requested at the end of that section must be submitted with your renewal application. Documentation should include a criminal judgment for all convictions. You must also upload a copy of the Ethics Letter you received from your national registry; the Board requires a copy.
*Continuing Education: Certain modalities have mandatory submission of continuing education with the renewal. If you are licensed as a RCIS/RCES, general diagnostic operator, a fluoroscopy technologist, LXMO, bone densitometry technologist only, or hold a grandfathered license in a primary modality, you MUST submit continuing education with this renewal. You must upload the CE certificates during the online renewal process. This requirement is in accordance with the CE letter that was mailed to you shortly after your original license was issued by the Board office.
*Renewal Updates: Once you complete the renewal, you will receive an email when the Board approves your license. It is important to keep your email and other contact information always updated. License certificates are not mailed out, but you may login and print it from the Board’s website, Licensee Print Licensure Card.
You are required to renew online. Paper renewals are no longer available.
LATE RENEWALS: The late fee amount will depend on if you are practicing after January 1, 2026.
Expired license but not practicing late fee: $50 additional fee if postmarked on or between January 2 and March 1.
Continued practice with an expired license late fee: $150 additional fee if postmarked on or between January 2 and March 1.
ATTENTION! CE AUDIT COMING IN MARCH 2026: In accordance with state law, the Board will be conducting its first Random CE Audit in March 2026. If you are randomly selected, you will be notified by email from the Board to submit CE certificates.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR MODALITIES (required for radiographers if they are practicing additional modalities – such as CT, mammography, bone densitometry, etc.) All licensees with an additional modality are required to obtain 5 hours of continuing education appropriate and relevant to EACH modality in addition to your primary modality in which CURRENTLY practicing. If you are practicing two modalities, such as CT and mammography, you will need 10 hours, 5 hours in each modality. Continuing education is not in excess of what is already required by your national registry. Continuing education must be approved credits accepted by your registry as appropriate. Licensees must keep a record of their CE. Do not send in your CE unless requested for a random audit.
